tough time
I've been out for four years now. I would NEVER consider going back. When I first left, I had moments of "OH MY GOD DID I JUST LEAVE THE ONLY TRUE RELIGION?" It took time (and study) to break free.
I remember going to visit the site of Beth Sarim (in San Diego). To me this was a huge symbol of the falsehood of the Watchtower org. I had to actually put my hands on the building and realize that I and my family (they are all still JWs), were totally misled. Then I read everything I could dealing with JWs.
I feel for those that have families that they just can't let leave them (that's what it really is - we don't leave them, they leave us). It's tough staying "faithful" when you think it IS the truth - I can only how much harder it must be when you know it's NOT.

Welcome Bendover,
Thanks for filling in the blanks. I totally agree with your description of how those Elder's used the inherent trust that the congregation members have in them for their own use. More than likely, this will just blow over with out any penalties to those brother's.
Do you know if Bill Parodi was involved with RAF? Are any of the congregation members aware of what's going on yet?

I knew Ron Nadel since I was a kid, and actually grew up with Kelly. I knew that they were involved in some investment company that employed a lot of brother and sisters. Kelly was removed as an elder some years ago - and Ron has been in and out of "eldership" over the years.
There have been several other financial scandels in the Orange County/Newport Beach area over the years involving brothers.
Kelly's parents were allways some of the nicest people you'd ever want to know. They actually lived on the property of the Malibu Kingdom Hall for several years. The remodeled the whole place but were booted out when a retiring DO (D.J. Thomas) and his wife needed a place to stay. Lot's of drama over that whole thing. If you know anything about the Malibu congregation - you're either in, out you are dirt. The place is run by a couple of very stuck elders (and their wives).
I ran into Ron's wife "Gay" in a restaurant last year. When I saw her I went up and extended my hand and said "hello". She knows that I was df'd, but I thought she would at least be polite. I got the total snub. I still sent my best regards to Ron. I'm glad I did. Even if they act like idiot's - we don't have to. I knew her since I was 10 for cryin' out loud!

I've been checking this website daily for 3 years and have never responded. Now I gotta. Emshoff served my congregation when I lived in the Palm Springs, California area. He was by far the most disliked DO I had ever been in contact with. Very arrogant. He was also very demeaning to the friend's. We literally dreaded his visits. Thank God he wasn't a CO - so we had less contact with him. I was not the PO at the time, so I had very little Organizational contact with him, but I was assigned to stage duty for circuit assemblies, and he was extremely antagonistic to the brother's working the stage. Looking back, I can't believe how we bent over backwards for him. No matter what anybody says, the DO was feared like a CEO or something. We were so out of balance!
I'm still sorry that he will have to suffer at his age. Even though he caused so much heartache. I have to remind myself that most of these guy's KNOW that they are not in The Truth. The hang on for the prestige (?), and power that they have over people. It's very intoxicating.
